Panoramic Suite in Hilton Doha

We had a 4 day stopover in Doha, Qatar on our flight back from India. The first night we spent in the Ritz-Carlton Doha, but it was an old concrete bunker with small rooms. So we cancelled the remaining nights and called Hilton to ask, wether it is possible to secure an upgrade to their Panoramic Suite. I was assured, that we get it, if it’s available.

So we called a cab and went over to the Hilton. At check-in we were given an upgrade to Executive Room. But I told him the whole story and in the end we reluctantly got a 14th floor Panoramic Suite. Probably the best hotel room we stayed in so far and the second best room of this hotel after the Presidential Suite.

This is the living area, on the right side of the room.

The bedroom is on the left side of the suite and both rooms have 46″ LCD TVs in case you are sick of enjoying the STUNNING VIEW.

Quickly after check-in, we were brought fresh fruits as a welcome amenity. We had to cut it ourselves though. We were also permitted to take a glas of wine from the lounge to enjoy on our balcony.

The hotel beach with an secured swimming area. There is also a floating platform in the water, but it didn’t have a ladder, so I couldn’t get up.

As soon as you settled in on your sunbed, a waiter came RUNNING with water, water spray and everything you wanted to order.

Breakfast was right next to the beach. As we have been in India for 3 months before, we were desperate for some black bread. And guess what: They had it, because it’s under German management. In addition to a good selection of warm dishes, arabic fare and fruits.

The lounge offers an afternoon snack of different items every day (they even had sushi) and a really generous drink service with waitresses. We had dinner in the on-site Trader’s Vic restaurant once. The front desk arranged reservations and we felt really special as she said “please consider that these are Diamond members”. When we arrived in the restaurant we found a table away from the band in an half empty restaurant… Food was good, but small plates and expensive.

You need to get a taxi, if you want to get away from the hotel. We walked to the city mall, but it wasn’t pleasant and taxis are real cheap.

I would always stay here again, but probably be really disappointed, if I didn’t get the Panoramic Suite…
